Epoxy or Polish Fiber Connectors are extremely dependable and popular connectors. You might discover that the majority of factory-made connectors are epoxy or polish design because, after taking into account a number of factors, these connectors are relatively dependable, affordable, and low loss. Epoxy is used to bond the fiber into the connector, and a special polishing film is used to polish the fiber's end. For applications where a lot of connectors will be used, traditional epoxy and polish fiber connectors are required.
Epoxy is used in epoxy/polish connectors to affix the ferrule of the connector to the fiber, and the epoxy is subsequently cured. Before connecting, the projecting fiber needs to be split and polished to produce a clean flush finish. Epoxy/polish connectors are preferred by many experienced fiber technicians; however, they are not the ideal choice if there is a limited skill set because their typical insertion loss is around 0.2 to 0.3dB for expert users but may be substantially higher for inexperienced users. Care must also be taken to avoid contamination because the end face is exposed and polished in the field.
Important: These connectors are sold flat do not come pre-angled. They require polishing after purchasing.
