A pack of 50 clear 60mm splice sleeves with a built-in steel member to provide additional support (3mm x 60mm). Fibertronics, Inc.’s 60mm fiber optic splice sleeves offer incredible protection for spliced fibers and are best used with 900μm 0.9mm tight buffer fiber. The proper operating temperatures are -55 to 100°C (-67 to 212°F). Fibertronics, Inc.’s splice sleeves are of exact lengths and have deburred rounded edges. The tubes are clear, so fiber color is still visible.
When two individual pieces of fiber optic cable are combined in one, a Splice Sleeve is used to protect the fusion Splice. These splice sleeves feature a single hole to remove the chance for improper fiber threading. They are made up of polyolefin heat shrinkable tubes for bare fiber protection and offer fast shrinkage and great efficiency, resulting in greater durability of the fiber. The splice sleeves also contain a stainless-steel needle. Splice Sleeves are ideal for application in cabling maintenance and construction.
A single splice protection sleeve is just that, a sleeve that will accommodate a single piece of fused fiber.
For a single splice protection sleeve, the maximum length will generally be 40 mm to 60 mm in length and is usually covered by an external tube which allows you to look at the fiber when inserted into the sleeve for periodic monitoring or maintenance of the cable itself.
The splice sleeve itself must be checked before it is applied to fusions and cables prior to installation. It is to make sure that the sleeve does not contain any deformities and it is clean on both sides of the sleeve. Remember the main cause of attenuation in the cable is not cleaning your fiber optic accessories and equipment.
