Fibertronics, Inc.’s fast ethernet fiber optic media converters provide an economical Plug-and-Play solution for media converters and are the perfect solution for extending ethernet LANs. These industry standard media converters support half and full duplex operation and feature easy to read system status LEDs. These converters are powered by an external 5V DC power supply which is included.

The hot-swappable design of these converters makes them easy to install and fix for inexperienced users, so that they can communicate with other devices. With high data transmission performance over fiber optic cable, media converters extend communication distance. This makes it perfect for IT professionals and secure setups in government, business, or educational applications.

A media converter is merely a device that can be plugged in and operated, but when connected to the network it must take account of certain factors. In accordance with the media converter port, the end face of the fiber patch cable should be the same. Ensure that wavelengths and speed rates are identical at both ends of the media converter. Be precise as to whether the converter supports full-duplex or half-duplex transmission and make sure to maintain the operating temperature range. Installation of a media converter should be done on a flat, secure location. Make sure that there's enough room for ventilation around the converter.

Since the use of two fiber media converters in a network is more common, one medium converter must be used for interconnections between copper cable and fiber devices. To connect two copper cable systems, it is often necessary to use a series of fiber media converters to extend the distance.
