This universal 1U network rack mount shelf fits all standard 19" racks. It holds components and equipment up to 17.43" wide. This network rack mount shelf is made of 16-gauge cold rolled steel. The one-piece construction allows for the full strength of the steel, making it very sturdy for storing network devices and other equipment. This network rack shelf features a ventilated bottom for heat dissipation. Good ventilation is imperative, because improvements to air circulation help keep your valuable rack components cooler, improve system performance and prevent costly equipment failures that result in interruption, damage, or loss of data. A network shelf provides every rack or cabinet installation flexibility and organization for efficient cable management. A network shelf helps maintain network rack equipment in a secure organized way, to make sure it is efficient in space saving.

A network rack is an open frame device with two or four posts. Network rack shelves are meant to accommodate networking equipment other than servers, such as switches, patch panels, and routers, and are frequently seen in data centers or on-premises networking closets. A space-saving and cost-effective solution is a two-post network rack. The unit's open design makes the wiring and equipment easily accessible.

Network Rack vs. Server Rack

Network racks are usually used to store network equipment outside of the server itself, and they can sometimes be less deep than a server rack or cabinet. The reason is because servers require more space than a lot of networking equipment does. While servers normally have a depth of approximately 36 inches, the network rack may be shorter than 31 inches.

The use of both network and server racks at the same time is not uncommon for businesses. As network racks are built to accommodate many cables, cable management is also of greater importance in the network rack than in a server rack.
