This product is a premium-grade Brocade Compatible 40G QSFP+ to 4 SFP+ Passive DAC (Direct Attach Cable) Copper cable. It offers a cost-effective solution for high bandwidth and fast transmission rates over short distances. These QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) cable assemblies facilitate the establishment of a 40 Gigabit link between QSFP+ ports of 4 SFP+ switches within racks and across adjacent racks. The QSFP+ to 4 SFP+ copper DAC cable is a 40GBase QSFP+ hybrid passive cable featuring a QSFP+ connector on one end and 4 SFP+ connectors on the other. Each DAC cable undergoes 100% optical inspection and compatibility testing before shipment.

A DAC cable, also known as a direct attach cable, is a pre-terminated twinax cable designed to connect directly into transceivers. Available in various lengths for short-distance connections, these cables are constructed with shielded copper coaxial or fiber optic cable and feature single pluggable transceivers at each end, with gauge values typically ranging from 24AWG to 30AWG. Depending on the type, DAC cables can enable interconnections up to 15 meters using twinaxial copper cable or extend up to 100 meters over an active optical cable at speeds of 10Gbps, 40Gbps, or higher.

Direct Attach Cables come in passive and active varieties. Passive DAC cables do not contain electrical components, resulting in lower power consumption. In contrast, active DAC cables incorporate electrical components, allowing for greater distance and signal strength but consuming more power. While active cables offer increased performance, they are also more expensive and consume more power during operation compared to passive direct attach cables.
