This is a multimode, OM1, 62.5/125 mode conditioning fiber cable that is used to convert a singlemode signal to a multimode fiber, so it can be accurately sent through a multimode network. It is used within Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-LX (1300nm Wavelength) applications when replacing standard equipment-to-cable plant patch cord, like routers and switches.

Mode conditioning fiber cables allow the offsetting of a singlemode fiber core with a corresponding multimode fiber to help reduce bit errors in the signal as a result of differential mode delay, or DMD. DMD effects occur when long wave transceiver modules operate at both singlemode and multimode wavelengths and can reduce the cable distance lengths for operation. The singlemode/multimode side is always directly hooked into the equipment side. The patch cord's duplex multimode side is always connected to the cable plant side.

Our mode conditioning patch cables can have any combination of LC, SC, or ST connectors at each end. We also offer them at various lengths. Normally, mode conditioning cables are used in pairs. To connect the equipment to the cable plant, you'll need a mode conditioning cable at either end. You can inquire about different designs by using the Contact Us portion of the website. Our mode conditioning fiber cables are compatible with Gigabit Ethernet at 850nm or 1300nm on regular multimode fiber, as well as a VCSEL laser source into standard multimode fiber.
