14 Port 3U Chassis Mount - Accepts x14 Media Converters - Dual Power - 110VAC

This 3U Chassis Mount provides 14 slots for standalone 10/100M media converters. The chassis has been equipped with dual cooling fans, redundant power supplies (optional) and is designed for continuous operation.  Its Plug-and-Play and Hot-Swap features allow installation and removal of the converter unit without powering it off.  The chassis comes with two high quality hot swappable power supplies, either of which can be removed without disturbing operation. This allows it to offer total efficiency, maximum redundancy, and minimum down time. This makes the 3U Chassis mount perfect for IT professionals and secure setups in government, business, or educational applications.

Each converter is supplied by a common shared power bus, but as an added precaution each is individually protected in the event of a problem on the bus or from power surges.

A media converter is merely a device that can be plugged in and operated, but when connected to the network it must take account of certain factors. In accordance with the media converter port, the end face of the fiber patch cable should be the same. Ensure that wavelengths and speed rates are identical at both ends of the media converter. Be precise as to whether the converter supports full-duplex or half-duplex transmission and make sure to maintain the operating temperature range. The installation of a media converter should be done in a flat, secure location and make sure that there's enough room for ventilation around the converter.
